A New Star on Main Street

By |2016-12-16T14:56:06-05:00June 27th, 2013|Disney Travel Tips|

Now open at the newly revamped bakery on Main Street, U.S.A.® inside Disney’s Magic Kingdom® Park is the vintage inspired, themed Starbucks. This new addition to the Walt Disney World® Resort boasts a menu of Starbucks signature beverages, artisan breakfast sandwiches and a wide selection of baked goods, including both Starbucks and Disney made favorites. You’ll still be able to get your brownies, cookies, cupcakes, and more all while fueling your day with a tasty espresso or coffee.     The menu is not the only thing that has changed inside the Main Street Bakery. You’ll also find that while the bakery still has the Main Street flare they have included some “hidden mermaids”. The twin tailed siren from the Starbucks logo has been tastefully worked into the new décor of the bakery. And, for those who had worries about seeing the classic green apron on the cast members, fear not! All baristas and servers are sporting the Main Street, U.S.A.® look. From the vintage signage to the copper stove hoods, I have to say that they have done a seamless job of incorporating the Starbucks brand into the Main Street Bakery. The new look is not overwhelming and all the [...]

Boredom Busters

By |2016-12-16T14:56:06-05:00June 23rd, 2013|Disney Travel Tips, Tabitha|

Every kid, and even many adults, can get bored waiting in lines. Even at the Happiest Place on Earth, waiting in lines is not a favorite of most!  In recent years Walt Disney World has helped to rid us all of boredom in lines with the addition of interactive queues.  The interactive queues can be great fun and help that wait go by so much quicker.  Unfortunately not all of the lines have an interactive queue, or sometimes your child doesn't respond to the interactive queue, what do you do then?  Here is my list of my top ten favorite line boredom busters! 1. Handheld Device - iPad/iPod/iPhone, DS etc.   Although some people may not be for these devices, especially when we can be experiencing the world around us, they can be a great option for an impatient preschooler, a "too-cool-for-school" tween or a child with special needs. 2. Stickers and notebooks. Stickers are a big hit with our daughter. We bring a notebook along for her to put the stickers in. This is a great plan, of course, she would much rather stick the stickers all over herself and us. :) But it makes her happy so we are good with it! 3. Notebook and [...]

Are You a Magical Guest?

By |2016-12-16T14:56:06-05:00June 18th, 2013|Disney Travel Tips, Noelle|

I don’t know about you but I love to make people happy.  Going to Walt Disney World® always makes me happy and I like to try and pay that forward.  The Cast members always go above and beyond to make every guest feel special, so I try and make sure that the Cast Members who interact with me get the recognition they deserve. One of the simplest ways to pay it forward for any Disney Employee is to simply go to guest services at the front of the park, and tell one of the workers there about  your experience, making sure to mention the cast member by name.  For instance “I just wanted to let someone know that ‘Patrick’, working at the Fastpass Return for Thunder Mountain RailRoad, made our day special by …..”  Another way I try to make things more special for those who are working hard to make my vacation a success, is to print up little business cards that say “Thank you for the extra Pixie Dust”  or something similar.  I take a picture of something that matches the theme of my card (for instance a Tinkerbelle ornament) and use a fun font.  Then I just [...]

New Lands Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios™

By |2016-12-16T14:56:07-05:00June 15th, 2013|Disney Travel Tips|

Since the opening of Cars Land at Disney’s California Adventure® Park  people have been begging for it to be replicated on the east coast.  It seems they are about to get their wish, and even more.  Disney’s Hollywood Studios™  is about to undergo some major changes. Multiple sources are reporting that Disney will be reproducing Cars Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios™ in Florida. The rumored location is that it will be replacing the Lights, Motors, Action!®  Extreme Stunt Show®  and a portion of Catastrophe Canyon. While this will mean the end for both of those attractions, it will bring Lightning McQueen, Mater, and the rest of the popular crew to the east coast.  Cars Land won’t be the largest or most exciting change, either.   Building off the popularity of the Star Tours® Attraction and Star Wars Weekends, Disney will be opening a Star Wars Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios™. There are no details yet as to what rides, shows or attractions will be available or what setting will be used, but I am sure it will be completely out of this world.  It is also unknown what current attractions will be leaving in order to make way for Star Wars Land.     Both projects promise [...]

Jedi Training Academy

By |2016-12-16T14:56:07-05:00June 11th, 2013|Disney Travel Tips|

Do you have a child that just loves Star Wars? I have two boys that given the chance would do nothing but battle each other with lightsabers all day long; which is why I was so excited to find out about the Jedi Training Academy! Daily and year round young Padawans between the ages of 4 and 12 can train with a Jedi Master at Disney’s Hollywood Studios™.   You will want to sign your children up first thing as the spots fill up quickly. When entering Disney’s Hollywood Studios™ head immediately over to the ABC Sound Studio and follow the Jedi Training Academy signs. Your child will be given the next available time slot and you’ll receive a paper pass to bring back with the time for your show. When you arrive your child is given a lightsaber and a brown robe to use during the show. When the Jedi Master arrives he’ll position the children for training. The show starts with the children taking the Jedi Oath. Next they will practice powering up their lightsabers and a simple battle technique to use. Alas! Midway through the show the Dark Side makes an appearance, usually in the form of Darth [...]

Our Must Have Snack

By |2016-12-16T14:56:07-05:00June 8th, 2013|Disney Travel Tips, Tabitha|

There is one must have snack for my family at Walt Disney World and that is Kaki-Gori from Kabuki Cafe located inside the Japan Pavilion at Epcot®. My family loves this snack! When we start planning our trip we are already looking forward to getting Kaki-Gori. When we plan out our day at Epcot® we make sure to plan on being in Japan, or close to Japan, right between meal times so we are ready for a snack, not too full from our last meal and not to close to our next one that we won't want to spoil our appetite. Why do we love Kaki-Gori?  Some people say, "it is just a snow cone".  Well we say, it is NOT just a snow cone, it is the ultimate shaved ice treat!  You will find no better than Kaki-Gori.  What makes Kaki-Gori so good you ask?  The secret, I think, is in the syrup (and just the right amount might I add)!   The flavors available are strawberry, cherry, melon, mikan (tangerine) and rainbow (three flavors in one).  This is also a great snack for sharing.  It is the perfect size for my family to share and each get our fill.  At just $3.50, [...]

A Look at The Seas with Nemo & Friends®

By |2016-12-16T14:56:07-05:00June 5th, 2013|Disney Travel Tips, Janice|

If you've ever visited The Seas with Nemo & Friends® Pavillion at Epcot® you realize how many true Aquarium elements there are.  If you haven't visited, you must check it out, my children could literally spend a couple hours in there! It's a fun, educational, hands-on Sea oasis right inside Epcot®.  You are able to view many different kinds of fish, including sea turtles and dolphins, inside the huge tanks.  You are able to see the marine biologists feed manatees and do a question and answer session with guests.  Your children can also play in a kid-friendly area with some of the sharks from Finding Nemo.  This area is also a great place for some fun pictures!   One of the most fun attractions inside this Pavilion, in my mind, is Turtle Talk with Crush.  It's a great, 15 minute, audience-interactive show that features Crush, the 150 year old turtle from the movie Finding Nemo.  Inside, the children are invited to sit on the floor in the front of the room, while the parents can sit on the benches.  Crush then comes to visit and asks questions of the children, it creates some hilarious moments.  You never know what the kids [...]

A Pirates Adventure: Treasure of the Seven Seas

By |2016-12-16T14:56:07-05:00June 1st, 2013|Disney Travel Tips|

A Pirate’s Adventure: Treasures of the Seven Seas is now open at Magic Kingdom® Park. Inspired by the popular “Pirates of the Caribbean” film franchise, this interactive quest allows guests to turn into one of Captain Jack’s pirate recruits, arms them with magic talismans and treasure maps, and lets them embark on one of five different pirate raids throughout Adventureland. You can prove your pirate worth by collecting valuable treasures while fending off some of Captain Jack’s enemies, including the Royal Navy and Captain Barbossa. The quest is included in Theme Park admission and guests can embark on more than one raid if they wish.  Contact Wishing Well Travel for more information on how you can join in on this swashbuckling fun!

A Monstrously Good Time

By |2016-12-16T14:56:07-05:00May 30th, 2013|Angie, Disney Travel Tips|

How do you start your summer off with a monstrously-good time?  By celebrating with Sulley and Mike Wazowski at the “Happiest Place on Earth” for 24 hours straight!   Walt Disney World Resort® in Florida started off this summer with an exciting event dubbed “The Monstrous 24 Hour All-Nighter”.  Guests began the day at 6:00am on May 24, 2013, outside the gates of Magic Kingdom® Park, where they were welcomed by the traditional locomotive arrival of your favorite mouse & mine, Mickey Mouse!  In addition to seeing some of our favorite characters on the train platform, the special emcees for this welcome were none other than Sulley and Mike.  They waved to the crowd as the dancers and characters got the crowd excited for the full day (and night) of festivities ahead!  As the welcome show came to a close, crowds donning special one-eyed glasses and limited edition Sulley-inspired ear hats made their way onto Main Street, U.S.A.®!  Let the fun begin!! If you love tasty treats with a monster-good theme, then this was the place to be!  From monster size cupcakes to cotton candy in the shades of our 2 favorite monster stars, there was something to satisfy every sweet [...]

Photo Tips

By |2016-12-16T14:56:08-05:00April 18th, 2013|Disney Travel Tips, Noelle|

Ok, I admit it, I am a photography nut.  I love to take pictures, especially at Disney!  There is so much to see and enjoy and I love to be able to go through my photos weeks or months after my vacation and remember those little details.  Some of my Favorite photos have been take at Disney World and I thought I would share just a few tips on how I have been able to capture some great pictures! First – You don’t need a fancy expensive camera to get some fun shots!  My little camera is just a decent digital camera, with a few different features that are very common among cameras.  The main settings I use on my camera are my Macro setting for close ups (looks like a little flower)  the Sports setting for fireworks and night time lights (looks like a little running man)  and of course my default setting.   The only other things you need are a little imagination, and if you want – photo editing software or  a photo editing site - there are several good free sites out on the web! For some really fantastic shots, try changing your perspective.  Give a camera [...]

Brrr…..Blizzard Beach

By |2016-12-16T14:56:08-05:00February 11th, 2013|Disney Travel Tips, Janice|

Looking for a vacation at Walt Disney World, that also has a little bit of Winter snowy fun?  You've got to try Disney's Blizzard Beach.  This amazing water park is filled with tons of attractions that are perfect for any group.  It's so fun and just so inventive. Blizzard Beach is a huge water park that appears as if a major snow storm has hit Walt Disney World and the results are super fun.  There is a giant wave pool called Melt-Away Bay in the middle of the park that delivers giant waves every few minutes.  Surrounding the entire park is the amazing lazy river, Cross Country Creek...grab a tube at any of the many openings and just float around the park til your hearts' content.  It's so relaxing and the perfect attraction at Disney World because there are never any lines! My favorite attraction at Blizzard Beach is the huge family tube ride, Teamboat Springs.  Guest take a ski chairlift to the top of the ski mountain (or water slide mountain) and board a large tube that can seat up to six people.  It's the perfect ride for your group to do together. Two areas of Blizzard Beach that the kids in your group will [...]

Become a Wilderness Explorer

By |2016-12-16T14:56:08-05:00February 8th, 2013|Disney Travel Tips, Tabitha|

Have you seen Disney/Pixar's movie UP?  Do you love Russell and his excitement for earning badges as a Wilderness Explorer? Well Russell is now bringing that excitement to Disney's Animal Kingdom! He loves earning badges so much he wanted to share that with all of us.  Disney's California Adventure already has a variation of this attraction, it is called Redwood Creek Challenge Trail.  Guests are given a pamphlet telling them the tasks they must complete to earn each badge. Once a task is completed the guest marks it off their pamphlet. This is done on the honor system. Once they have completed their tasks they go to the Senior Explorer Ceremony and are promoted to Senior Wilderness Explorer. When this attraction comes to Disney's Animal Kingdom guests are going to have the opportunity to explore this awesome park in a whole new way.  They will have the opportunity to tour the park as Wilderness Explorers, searching for the items on our pamphlets and earning badges along the way. Disney has had success with interactive attractions that allow guests the opportunity to explore the parks in a new way. At Epcot in the  World Showcase has been host to Kim Possible and now Agent P; at Magic Kingdom you [...]

Fantasy Faire

By |2016-12-16T14:56:08-05:00February 6th, 2013|Disney Travel Tips, Noelle|

Just as Disney World is expanding with the New Fantasyland, Disneyland is also expanding to include the new Fantasy Faire! Opening March 12th Fantasy Faire will be a natural extension of Fantasyland.  The quaint storybook village addition will contain the Royal Theater and the Royal Hall.  Disney Imagineers took inspiration from Sleeping Beauty’s castle, Pinocchio, and the existing Fantasyland.  According to the Director of Walt Disney Imagineering,  “My goal,” he said, “was that the new Fantasy Faire would meld over into the existing Fantasyland naturally.” He said that his intention would be for first-time visitors to never suspect that this addition came later than the rest of Fantasyland.”  The Royal Theater will house a couple of Renaissance story tellers, Mr. Smythe and Mr. Jones.  These two will tell the stories of Beauty and the Beast, and Rapunzel, with some help from fellow villagers. Belle, Flynn Rider and Rapunzel themselves will even appear to help tell their stories  These unique vaudevillian style shows will be fast paced, and whimsical, and all accompanied by the music of Sir Samuel from Morocco.  Show Director Chris Utley remarked “The storytellers will play a variety of roles, filling in as the other characters. They may [...]

If you are looking for a character meal with a little extra magic, check out the Crystal Palace in the heart of the Magic Kingdom.  Whether you are looking for breakfast, lunch or dinner, you're in luck because it offers all three.  There is something extra magical and special about eating your meal in the center of the Magic Kingdom and being able to look out and see Cinderella's Castle! All three meals offer a buffet, with many different selections for children and adults. You'll find fresh fruit, many different fresh salads, carved meat and vegetables. There is also a special dessert bar with so many delicious choices. At the Crystal Palace, you'll get a chance to dine with and meet Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Eyore and Piglet.  Your little ones will love the chance to parade around the restaurant with all the characters between bites.  Each character will make a trip to your table and be available for pictures and of course, autographs.
