Ok, I admit it, I am a photography nut. I love to take pictures, especially at Disney! There is so much to see and enjoy and I love to be able to go through my photos weeks or months after my vacation and remember those little details. Some of my Favorite photos have been take at Disney World and I thought I would share just a few tips on how I have been able to capture some great pictures!
First – You don’t need a fancy expensive camera to get some fun shots! My little camera is just a decent digital camera, with a few different features that are very common among cameras. The main settings I use on my camera are my Macro setting for close ups (looks like a little flower) the Sports setting for fireworks and night time lights (looks like a little running man) and of course my default setting. The only other things you need are a little imagination, and if you want – photo editing software or a photo editing site – there are several good free sites out on the web!
For some really fantastic shots, try changing your perspective. Give a camera to the kids to see what they come up with as well. For This shot here I was on the top deck of the Liberty Belle as we floated by the mill. Then I just used the photo editing software that came with my camera and changed the photo to black and white. A fun boarder added, and voila – it looks like an antique photo, but was actually taken in November of 2012!
Try shooting in Sepia or Black and white it can change the entire mood of the photo!
For another perspective – try zooming in to catch the little details. For each of these shots below, I zoomed in as close as my camera would allow, while still keeping the image crisp. Some of this is trial and error, but that is the beauty of digital photos, you can instantly see whether or not you want to keep your photo. If you are a nature lover, this is a fantastic option at the Disney Parks. The Macro setting on your camera will be your friend in close up photos, and there are so many beautiful plants, flowers and little details to capture at the parks.
You can also create some fantastic “art” shots as shown below. Some of these are straight out of the camera – like the carousel, and others are played with on a photo editing site and combine several photos together.
The bottom line with photography is to have fun! Take pictures of what you like and chances are you will love your pictures! If you like flowers, take pictures of flowers, from above, below and eye level, Try a shot in the rain. You never know what may turn out to be your next masterpiece and a great memory!
