On select dates, usually Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, in September and October, the Magic Kingdom® Park closes down early for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. This Party is the ONLY time adults are allowed to wear costumes inside the Parks. Magic Kingdom® Park is decorated in seasonal finery all day long, but at night, the decorations come alive. The Mickey-O-Lanterns glow and the fun and slightly spooky music begins to flow. All non-ticketed guests are required to leave at the regularly scheduled closing time. Those who have purchased tickets to the party are given special wristbands. The wristbands must be shown to get onto rides, and after a certain hour, even to purchase things at the shops! Special “party only” merchandise is available once the party is in full swing. Pins and other items that cannot be purchased during the day will be available at certain stores. These stores are also marked on the event map.
Not only are adults allowed – even encouraged to wear costumes at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, but on party nights, some of the characters come in their Halloween costumes too! Special characters are also available on party nights, such as Snow White and all Seven Dwarves! (can you find me in the picture?) Towards the end of the party – the Villains come out to play! To find out where your favorite characters located, head to Town Hall on Main Street, U.S.A.® . Some characters can have VERY long lines! Special Photo Pass Magic Photos are also available during party hours!
Of course, what would Halloween be without Trick or Treating? There are special Trick or Treat stations set up all over Magic Kingdom® Park where Cast Members are handing out candy and snacks. They even some allergy friendly treats! Just be sure to tell the Cast Member your childs allergy. These stations are all well marked on the special party map – which you can pick up on your way into the party, along with your trick or treat bag!
Mickey’s not So Scary Halloween Party is also host to the Boo To You parade, complete with a Headless horseman! The parade usually runs twice on party nights. The second parade is usually a little less crowded. Characters and Villains join with the inhabitants of the Haunted Mansion for a delightfully creepy parade. Keep in mind that the theme of the entire night is “not so scary”!
On Party nights the fireworks show Wishes is transformed into the Spooktacular Hallowishes! Villains take over and ghosts and spooky music abound. It is a fun take on the Wishes fireworks and can only be seen on these special nights.
Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is a separate ticketed event. For most nights you can get a small discount if you purchase before the day of the party. Most years the party prices run between $60-$65 dollars per person. Be aware that certain dates – like Halloween night – will sell out fast! Dates in September are usually less busy and are great times to hit the park with little to no lines for rides and characters. I found the party to be well worth the extra money!
