Ask 10 different people what their favorite restaurant at Walt Disney World is and you’ll probably get 10 different answers. Eating around the “World” is almost as popular as the parks themselves. With over 100 choices how could it not be? Disney World offers options to satisfy any palate. There is such a variety it can be difficult to choose! I thought I’d take a minute and explain a little bit about each option.

Signature Dining: Signature dining restaurants are a little more upscale and usually a little pricier. Some of them have a more eclectic menu while others just offer fabulous renditions of timeless favorites. For example, The California Grill located atop The Contemporary Resort is great choice especially if you’re looking for something unique to do without the kids.

Dinner Shows: Disney offers 3 unique dinner show options. The Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground is home to Mickey’s Backyard BBQ. The idea here is that you are at an outdoor barbecue with Mickey & his pals. There’s dancing, singing, games, etc. Also at Fort Wilderness is The Hoop-De-Doo Musical Revue which is a vaudeville style show served with down home country cooking. Trust me, you will have FUN!!! If those don’t sound interesting how about an authentic Luau at the Polynesian Resort complete with traditional Hawaiian cuisine and music?

Character Dining: The only time when eating with a mouse is a GOOD thing!! Disney has an array of character dining options. Maybe you’d like to dine with Mickey & the gang or Winnie the Pooh (and posse).  Little girls might enjoy dining with the Princesses. There is even a character meal for your toddler or Preschooler with characters from Disney Junior at Hollywood Studios!

Casual Dining: There are tons of other sit-down table restaurant locations at the theme parks, resorts and Downtown Disney that are sure to satisfy everyone’s taste buds!  Many are themed which adds to the fun of being on vacation and finding something different.

Quick Service: Quick service restaurants offer a more affordable option. These are more your “fast food” types of restaurants. But don’t let the “fast food” comparison fool ya’! There are quite a few places that offer more than the typical burgers & fries kinds of food. One of my favorites, Flame Tree Barbecue, is located at Animal Kingdom. They offer ribs & chicken and is quite yummy! It is pretty popular so plan accordingly if you are planning on eating here.

As with any vacation, dining out can be expensive! Disney offers a variety of Dining Plan options when you book a vacation package. Be sure to ask your agent about the choices if you are interested. I personally love using the dining plan as it’s a great way to try new places every time I go without worrying about the cost once I’m there. Of course that’s added expense upfront but you’ll forget all about that when you are chowing down on Parmesan Mashed Potatoes at the ever popular Chef Mickey’s or Tonga Toast (banana stuffed French toast) at Kona Cafe. Don’t worry if this all sounds a little overwhelming. That’s what your Wishing Well Disney Travel Agent is here for 😉  We can help you decide what might work best for you and even make all your dining reservations for you!

So no matter what your craving, Disney’s got it. From buffets and burgers to steaks and sushi, Walt Disney World truly has something for even the pickiest of patrons!
