Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday.   I love the beauty of  the lights and decorations, the smell of the tree and holiday treats, the sounds of singing and laughter.  I even enjoy the hustle & bustle of it all, although it is much easier to enjoy once I’m done with my shopping!    I can think of no better place to experience all of this than Walt Disney World.  A couple of years ago my family was fortunate enough to visit during this time of the year.
Disney goes to great lengths to “deck the halls”!  Everywhere you look you see signs of the holidays.   There are trees at every resort, lights and wreaths adorn Main Street at the Magic Kingdom, Mickey and Minnie are decked out in their Christmas duds, and there are sweet treats at every turn.   Several of the resorts display the most amazing Gingerbread houses you’ve ever seen.
The Osborne Family Lights at Hollywood Studios is one of my favorite sights to experience and it is included with park admission.  It is a light show like no other, absolutely gorgeous.  You can read more about it in this post by Wishing Well Travel Agent, Autumn.
Other unique activities include the  Storytellers in the World Showcase at Epcot.  These storytellers tell of holiday traditions from their homelands.  They perform several times a day in their respective countries.  It is so interesting to learn about the way other cultures celebrate.
Epcot also hosts the Candlelight Processional.  The Candlelight Processional is a special holiday event that takes place nightly in the American Gardens Theater.  It retells the Christmas story complete with a celebrity narrator, 50 piece orchestra and mass choir.  It is a beautiful time to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas and all the joy it brings.
On select nights at the Magic Kingdom you can attend Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.  This event is a must-do if you’re visiting the Walt Disney World resort during the holiday season.  Party favorites include:  Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas parade, special meet & greet opportunities with characters, complimentary cookies and hot chocolate.  On those nights “SNOW” also falls on Main Street and a special fireworks show,  Holiday Wishes: Celebrate the Spirit of the Season, tops off the festive event in a magical way!
These are just a few ways that, Disney celebrates the holiday season.  Disneyland and Disney Cruise Lines offer unique and special celebrations as well.  Just like at Disney World, you will find amazing light displays, attractions, decorations, etc. that would put even Scrooge himself  in the holiday spirit!  Experiencing the sights & sounds of the season at Disney is a wonderful way to kick start or enhance the holiday season.
