When you think of going to Walt Disney World®, the last thing most of us think about is our diet. However, for some, it is absolutely necessary. Many people today are on special diets. Some people are dieting to lose weight, while others may be on a special diet due to allergies, food sensitivities or disease. None of these dietary needs should stop someone from visiting Walt Disney World®. Walt Disney World® has not only made it possible for those with dietary needs to visit their parks, they have also made every effort to keep it simple. Whether you are dining at a quick service restaurant or a table service restaurant, Disney does their very best to meet your needs.
When planning your trip, it is best to plan ahead. If you are going to be eating at any of the table service restaurants, it is best to make Advanced Dining Reservations (ADR’s), which can be made up to 180 days in advance. I know that some of you are thinking you have no idea where you would want to eat 180 days from now, but if you sit down and starting looking at all of your options, you will find it is much easier to make that decision than you think. Check out the menus for the restaurants, look at what park you are going to be visiting each day, and go from there. Your Wishing Well Travel agent can send you info on the restaurants and menus, as well as offer helpful advice! Once you know where you want to eat, you can make those ADR’s, or have your Wishing Well Travel agent make them for you. When making the ADR’s, your travel agent will let them know that someone in your party has special dietary needs. They will make a note of that in your reservations. When you arrive at each of the restaurants you will mention this to the Cast Member (they should see this note in the reservation) and the Cast Member will let the Chef know. The Chef will then come to your table and go over the menu with you, if you have allergies they find out what those are so as to be extra cautious not to cross-contaminate; they will also make recommendations as to what they have that fits your dietary needs. You will do the same thing when dining at quick service restaurants. Speak to the Cast Member at the counter to find out how they can accommodate your specific needs.
Dining out has never been easier for people with special dietary needs than it is at Walt Disney World®. This is just one more way that Disney goes the extra mile for their guests.
